Prof. Jon Hinwood was a founding partner of AMOG and served chairman for the company's first decade. Prof. Hinwood's areas of expertise include; water movement/circulation and water quality issues, design of water circulation and pumping systems, design of breakwaters and small and large craft harbours, beaches and sediment transport, coastal and ocean processes and estuarine dynamics, and environmental loading on fixed and floating structures. He has been a part of the Monash Engineering Ream for over 50 years and ran the Monash Offshore Engineering Program with Prof. Paul Grundy for a decade. He also developed the wave tank at Monash;University, Clayton Campus, which is still the largest in the southern hemisphere, and continues to have an ongoing role at AMOG as a consultant.

Professor Robert Melchers was one of the founding partners of AMOG in 1991 and a Director of AMOG when the company first started out. He is one of the leading structural engineering academics in Australia, was the founding editor of the Australian Journal of Structural Engineering, and was instrumental in establishing the Structural College in the early 1980s. Professor Robert Melchers was one of the founding partners of AMOG in 1991 and a Director of AMOG when the company first started out. He is one of the leading structural engineering academics in Australia, was the founding editor of the Australian Journal of Structural Engineering, and was instrumental in establishing the Structural College in the early 1980s. Prof Melchers has received two five-year Australian Professorial Fellowships from the Australian Research Council, has published 4 books and over 200 refereed journal papers, and many conference papers and reports. Blending a highly successful academic career (including his current position at the University of Newcastle) while still being a leader in industry and in the profession, through Engineers Australia, Prof Melchers also works closely with AMOG on the company's Joint Industry Projects and as a consultant.

His central interest was the performance of structures in hostile environments under dynamic and repeated loading. His work resulted in research into load spectrums, fatigue and fracture, incremental collapse, risk assessment and life extension applied to cranes, bridges, ships and offshore structures with wrought iron, steel, concrete and composite material. In 2008 he was made a Member of the Order of Australia and in 2012 was awarded the Anton Tedesko Medal...

A valued friend and mentor, Emeritus Prof. Grundy passed away in 2013. Within AMOG, he may be remembered for his work on the Reliability of Bulk Carriers Project, which included instrumenting an actual bulk carrier, extensive numerical modelling, and a vast array of seminars and conferences. Prof. Grundy retired in 2004 following the devastating tsunami, after which he launched the “Joint Working Commission for Disaster Reduction on Coasts."

He held positions of Director General of Logistics and Head of Corps for the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) and has held numerous senior roles: with the Faculty of the Australian Staff College; UK MoD Project Management Staff; Alfred Group of Hospitals; Victorian Department of Human Services; and the Institution of Engineers Australia. Brig. Ermert retired from the AMOG Board of Directors in 2011.

Dr. Don Charrett joined the board of AMOG as a Director in August 2010 and assumed the role of chairman in December 2011. His career as a structural engineer spans over 30 years. He currently practices as a barrister, arbitrator, mediator and dispute board member in the field of engineering and construction law. Dr. Charrett is published widely on legal and engineering subjects, and has presented papers and engineering and legal conferences and seminars in Australia and internationally.

Mr. Pat Washington joined the Board of AMOG in 2002. Prior to this, he was the Managing Director of Oceaneering Australia Pty. Ltd. He has over 40 years experience in offshore and subsea operations including project management, design and implementation of safety systems, evaluation and auditing of the sustainability of plan and equipment for offshore operations, and the introduction of company safety management systems and industrial relations issues. As well as his broad operational expereince, Mr. Washington has held a number of respected positions including acting as the industry representative to the Standards Association and WorkSafe Australia on diving operations. He retired from the AMOG Board of Directors in 2006.

Mr. Peter Wagner was appointed to the AMOG Board as a Non-Executive Director in October 2009. During his time at AMOG Peter provided management services to the Board and selected committees, as well as assisted in growing the business in the Mining and Resources sector, particularly in WA. He works for ThyssenKrupp and has experience in grain handling, coal handling, and ore handling and the continuous mining of overburden and ores using bucket-wheel and in-pit crushing applications combined with shiftable conveyors and spreaders.
